He published a book geared toward patients called Getting Ready for Dental Implant Surgery. What are dental implants? + –

Dental implants are small titanium posts that your dentist can place in your jaw to act as artificial teeth roots. They are an ideal way to replace missing teeth, as the implant will fuse with your jawbone and form a base for new teeth. Do dental implants hurt? + –

Can dental implants be removed? + –

Technically, dental implants can be removed, although it is unlikely that you would ever need to have that done. Once your implants have been placed in your jawbone, they will completely bond with the bone and can last for decades, if not the rest of your life. Your replacement teeth that are anchored to the implants will have an average life span of five to 10 years.
