So what a root canal is, is basically a way that we can salvage the tooth to use it to keep it in your mouth and still be able to function and eat and talk. But what in hindsight a root canal is, is when a cavity inside a tooth gets through all the two to three different layers and gets to the That’s where the nerve and the blood supply is. So when it does get to that level, it starts to hurt and it causes an infection.
So what we do is while we’re cleaning out the cavity, if we’re approaching the nerve or go into the nerve, we do the root canal procedure, which is basically just a procedure that we do where we can ensure that the patient can still keep their and be out of pain. The misconception that a root canal hurts is false because a lot of people come in with a painful tooth. Our goal is to get you out of pain by taking the nerve out.
And of course it has to be done with care and it has to be done correctly. And most of our patients don’t have any issues afterwards.
