Our staff is really good at treating patients with dental anxiety. One of the most important things when treating patients with dental anxiety, in my opinion, is listening. A lot of patients who have dental anxiety, that anxiety stems from a past experience at a dentist that didn’t go so well. So I feel that asking a patient about that and listening to their past experiences helps us understand what went wrong at those previous visits and helps the patient understand that each visit and each dentist is a different interaction. And it helps us to be able to avoid any of those triggering events that could have happened in the past and help make our patients more comfortable.
Relax & Leave Everything to Our Skilled Team
Like some people, your heart may begin racing and your palms may get sweaty when you think about scheduling a dental appointment. Surveys show that most people experience at least some anxiety about dental care, so you’re not alone.
Just know that our team will help you in any way we can to give you a positive experience with us. One of our most important means of providing relaxing care is through dental sedation. We offer you three ways to take the edge off your anxiety:
- Inhaled Sedation – You’ll breathe in mild laughing gas, which will begin working immediately to reduce your stress and calm your nerves.
- Oral Conscious Sedation – We’ll prescribe an FDA-approved pill to take beforehand. It will keep you completely relaxed in the dental chair.
- IV Sedation – This is our deepest level of sedation. You’ll be in a twilight state, and you won’t remember anything about your procedure afterward.
Laughing gas wears off quickly, so you’ll feel yourself again right away. Since the effects of oral sedation and IV sedation will linger, you may be groggy for a while. You’ll need to arrange for a ride home following your treatment.
In addition to sedation, you’ll also benefit from headphones to listen to your choice of music (or bring your own music if you want) and private operatories for your discretion. We also offer extended hours so you can come when it’s convenient for you
