Dental veneers are a thin layer of either porcelain or zirconia or a material called emax. They basically go on top of your natural tooth structure and they can require some minimally invasive prepping of the tooth structure depending on the position of the tooth and the shape and where we want it to be. So the goal with veneers is always to get the tooth to the ideal position or get the shape of the tooth to the ideal position.
So everybody’s tooth is different. Everybody, everybody’s arch is different. So nobody, you can’t know if you’re, you know, what you need done until you come get the consultation.
But basically this is an option for patients that want a specific result out of their teeth, I think, and they want a specific shape or specific position of their tooth or a specific color and they’re just not happy with the way that their teeth look at the moment. So they want to craft their teeth and basically pick and choose what they, what they want as the outcome. And I think if you’re that type of person, that’s the best option for you.
Designing veneers is very difficult in a sense of facially driven aesthetics. The way that we do veneers, we do something called facially driven aesthetics, where we take into account the facial features, not just the teeth. Okay, the symmetry of the face, the eyeballs, where the pupils are.
So there’s a lot of things that go into play when it comes to getting dental veneers done. And I think that’s where a lot of the bad work per se comes into play, where people go get work done and then it’s not done properly. And it’s because all those other things weren’t taken into account.
And that’s really, really important, especially if you’re investing time and money into a specific type of procedure. Like dental veneers, you want it to be done the right way and you want it to be treatment planned the right way and you want them to look the right way. So those are all things that we have to take into account.
The facial aesthetics is a big portion of of the treatment planning because nobody’s a one size fits all when it comes to veneers. Everybody’s shape is different. Everybody’s face is different.
Everybody’s veneers are going to look different and you want that to be customized to you. And we want that natural flow and the natural symmetry and natural harmony with the rest of your face.
